The Forest Has Been Busy
Share
Some weeks, the workshop is quiet.
This isn't one of them.
Last weekend, every Enchanted Dome found a new home, and I couldn't be more grateful. Seeing all of these tiny woodland worlds disappear from my table and head off with their new keepers is one of the greatest compliments I could ask for.
So... it's time to build the forest again.
It always begins with a pile of preserved moss spread across my workbench. It's messy, it's everywhere, and somehow it's still one of my favorite parts of the process. Every little dome starts with its own tiny patch of forest before anything else is added.
No shortcuts.
Just moss, patience, and a little imagination.
Once the forest floor is ready, the real magic begins.
Each miniature skull is carefully placed before I begin arranging mushrooms, greenery, and tiny details until the scene feels balanced. Nothing is measured or mass-produced. Every dome develops its own personality as I build it.
One of my favorite little secrets?... The mushrooms glow in the dark.
By day they're tiny woodland mushrooms tucked into the moss. At night they reveal an entirely different kind of magic.
No two domes will ever be exactly alike.
The moss grows differently.
The mushrooms settle in their own way.
The butterfly finds its perfect place.
Each little world becomes its own story beneath the glass.
That's the beauty of making them by hand.
I never expected these little forests to become one of my favorite things to create, but here we are...
If you're waiting for them to return to the shop, don't worry... I'm deep in the forest making more.
Thank you for clearing out my shelves last weekend and supporting handmade art. Every order means I get to keep creating strange little worlds like these, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Until the next field note...
